The GRIPONE S3 comes in a plug & play kit that includes all the components needed for installation: control unit, plug & play wiring loom, led alarm (that can be positioned near the dashboard), +/- buttons, bracket for buttons, speed sensors, brackets for speed sensors (not plug and play) , USB cable, USB stick with software (for Windows) and user manual. The GRIPONE S3 encloses 5 control strategies: traction control (with auto-corrector), anti wheelie, launch assistance, quick shifter and pit limiter. (Note: launch assistance is not a rev limiter like other launch controls, our strategy can reduce power when there is sliding or wheelie during the start phase. Other components such as the IMU inertial platform and the DAM datalogger are optional (and can be purchased separately).
Thanks to the technology 3D-INTELLIGENCE and the inertial platform IMU, GRIPONE S3 can understand the lean angle of the bike, the speed and the acceleration and instantly calculate the best level of sensitive. Thanks to the propretary technology 3D-INTELLIGENCE and the new SELF CORRECTOR algorith, GRIPONE S3 is even more powerful and easy to be used. The user sets the desired “average” sensitivity of traction control, but the system can increase sensitivity (and security) in critical situations or change it to optimize acceleration when conditions allow it. You do not have to accept compromises between safety and performance, with GRIPONE S4 you can get both.
GRIPONE S3 is designed to be used motorcycle sports and racing where it is necessary the perfection of performance of each component. For this reason GRIPONE S3 has a serial data channel to be connected to our datalogger DAM and records all the internal values of the control strategies (allowing you to improve the performance in less time).
The new brackets included into the kit are thought to make the speed sensor installation more easy then before. The brackets are not plug & play but allow the installation on the majority of bikes. By the brackets, the sensors can be placed in front of the brake disk bolts. Every bolts is detected by the sensors that trasmit the signal to the ECU to calculate the speed of both wheels.
The wiring loom included into the kit is completely plug & play. It does not need any kind of modification on the original harness becuase it made with the original connectors. In the most of the applications, the wiring loom is connected to the coils, between the coil and the original connector.
GRIPONE S3 works well even without being connected to the inertial platform IMUv. Through the calculation of speeds and derived accelerations, GRIPONE S3 can simulate the wheel load used by the 3D-INTELLIGENCE strategy. However, if you want the complete control and the maximum performance, we recommend you to include the inertial platform in your system. With GRIPONE S3 (from firmware version 40), installation and adjustment of the IMU is simple, thanks to the wizard procedure included with the WINSOFT software.

What includes the kit
The kit includes everything you need for installation on the bike. You do not have to add more. The inertial platform IMU and the DAM Datalogger are not included in the kit but are available as optional accessories. The GRIPONE S3 can also works without the IMU. How it works
The other traction control units are based on the outdated concept of “sensitivity”: the user chooses a fixed level of sensitivity that determines the activation of the system and the reduction of power. This approach determines a compromise between the various curves (even when the sensitivity change by the angle of the bike). GRIPONE S3 proposes a new concept called “target of safe sliding.”
By the inertial platform (IMU) GRIPONE S3 is able to understand the position of the bike and evaluate its dynamics status. Through the accelerations along the three axes (X, Y and Z) and the speeds of the wheels, the GRIPONE S3 algorithm estimates a “safe target” (ie a maximum slipping beyond which it is necessary to reduce the power). 200 times per second the “safe target” is recalculated and updated. In this way, the sensitivity is continuously varied and optimized allowing greater safety and better performance. GRIPONE S3 introduce the 1° generation of self correction of the traction control. If the user loads a map with a sensitivity not suited to his riding style, the system will be able to correct itself.
Relatively in a short time frame (equivalent to a 3-4 laps of circuit, more less 15km) GRIPONE S3 calculates the ideal sensitivity, depending on how the rider is using the bike and optimizes it slowly (step by step). Every time the you switch of the bike, the system will take note of the correction and it replace the old average sensitive with the new one. Without any intervention by you, GRIPONE S3 will optimize the setup. After few runs, you can download the map optimized and save it on your PC.
- 3D-INTELLIGENCE. The new control system calculates the ideal slip level in all condition. Every 0.005 Sec The unit check the data and it updates the sensitivity in real-time.
- TRACTION CONTROL. The most important function of GRIPONE S3 is the control of traction. By the speed sensors the system check the slip of rear tyre and reduce the power when it is too much (or dangerous). It is based on 3D-INTELLIGENCE algorithm. The user can adjust the control strategy in many different way because the system is very flexible. The user can start from a solid base with our base map available online.
- ANTI WHEELIE. GRIPONE S3 allows adjustment of the anti wheelie separately from the traction control. This avoid all “phantom” cuts made by the traction control when the bike wheelie. In addition, the new “Pulse Wave” wheelie control ensures fast intervention and a gradual rapprochement of the wheel asphalt. With GRIPON S3 you will not suffer anymore about the typical “on/off” feeling of other systems.
- LAUNCH CONTROL. Using a sophisticated algorithm, GRIPONE S3 help the starting procedure. No button for activation: whenever the bike is left idle for more than 5 sec the launch control is automatically activated. During the launch, GRIPONE S3 will keep under control the wheelie and /or the sliding of rear tyre. The strategy will switch off automatically over a certain speed (programmable by software)
- QUICK SHIFTER. (available only for some bikes) . GRIPONE S3 now includes a strategy to be a quick shifter. After you buy the kit GRIPONE S3, you have just to add a gear shift sensor (GSensor) to have a full quick shifter from your traction control unit. Our strategy works counting the firing so it is auto adaptive with the engine revolutions. Higher are the revolutions and faster will be the upshift. The Sensor is a real load cell and it can works in compression or tension. The sensor is fully adjustable and can be adapted to be very sensitive or hard.
- PIT LIMITER. by the map you can fix the speed limit, then by the remote buttons you can enable or disable the limiter.
- AUTO CORRECTION. From now (firmware version 0037) GRIPONE S3 comes with a new strategy of self correction of the traction control. Even if the user loads a map with a sensitivity not suited to his riding style, the system will be able to correct yourself. Relatively in a short time frame (equivalent to a 3-4 laps of circuit, more less 15km) GRIPONE S3 calculates the ideal sensitivity, depending on how the rider is using the bike and optimizes it. At each stop the system will take note of the differences (from sensitive of loaded map and the correction) and it will replace the Map has been loaded with the optimized independently. Without any modification from the user, the GRIPONE S3 will be able to optimize the setup. The user can also download the new map from ECU to the PC.
- MAPS AVAILABLE ONLINE. A new database with maps is now available online. It is available a specific map for every bikes we supply the plug & play kit, Just download the map and program the unit GRIPONE ‘s free, quick and easy.
- TOTAL CUSTOMIZATION. With GRIPONE S3 it is possible to adjust many parameters to make the traction control your. Set the level of use on “Advanced” and have free access to all configuration parameters.
- PID CONTROLLER. GRIPONE S3 is the only “stand alone” traction control system with
