GRIPONE LEONE is the next generation of motorcycle traction control systems designed and produced by GUBELLINI. It is a extremely fast traction control and reliable anti wheelie control. The installation is extremely easy because the system is completely Plug&Play. You don’t need brackets or cut wires, just plug in and go.

WHY DO YOU NEED A MOTORCYCLE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM?

WHAT GRIPONE LEONE IS

GRIPONE LEONE is the next generation of traction control systems for motorcycles. It includes the functions of traction control (to keep under control the spinning of rear tyre) and anti wheelie control (to keep the front wheel just few centimeters off the ground). The great innovation inside GRIPONE LEONE is that it works without speed sensors applied to the wheels. It is the only one on the market that uses a sophisticated inertial platform in combination with the RPM signal. This characteristic lets GRIPONE LEONE be incredibly easy to install and fast in reacting to the rear tyre spinning. It does not need any computer to be programmed, it is “ready to go”.

WHAT IT DOES

TRACTION CONTROL

The traction control system prevents the bike from drifting excessively during the acceleration phase. The control is carried out by reducing the power delivered to the rear wheel. During acceleration, your motorcycle will not only be easier to ride (without annoying swaying) but it will also be safer.

ANTI WHEELIE

The acceleration limit of your bike is represented by the detachment of the front wheel from the asphalt. The best possible acceleration is obtained when the front wheel is slightly raised from the ground, but not too much. For this reason, the anti-wheelie control is very important for optimizing the acceleration exiting the curves. With the anti-wheelie you can keep the maximum possible acceleration constant.

3D INTELLIGENCE

Thanks to the 3D-Intelligence technology and the IMU inertial platform (included), GRIPONE LEONE measures wheel loads (ie how much weight there is on the tires) and puts them in relation to the engine revs variation. If the tire loads are not consistent with the engine rpm behavior, GRIPONE LEONE detects an anomaly in the delivery of power and automatically adjusts the torque delivered. GRIPONE does not measure actual sliding but measures the consistency between RPM and tire loads. Other systems reduce power when the spinning of rear tyre is higher than a certain amount, GRIPONE LEONE stops the rotation as soon as it starts. This means that the speed of intervention is much higher than anyone else.

BUTTONS ON HANDLE BAR

By the remote buttons you can easily change the level of traction control and anti wheelie control (together), between 5 levels (from amateur rider’s level to professional rider’s level). Scrolling from level 1 to level 5, you can increase the amount of control during the acceleration phase. However, the buttons are not the only way to set GRIPONE. Through WINSOFT and the USB cable (optional) you can modify any configuration parameter as you like, obtaining a customized calibration from your system.

INERTIAL PLATFORM INCLUDED

GRIPONE LEONE works together with the inertial platform IMU, that is included into the kit. Through the calculation of accelerations, GRIPONE LEONE can evaluate the wheels loads, the yaw, the roll and the pitch of the motorcycle. GRIPONE LEONE and its IMU are coupled at the factory, so you do not need any preliminary setup.

PLUG & PLAY WIRING LOOM

The wiring loom included into the kit is completely plug & play. It does not need any kind of modification on the original harness because it made with the original connectors. In the most of the applications, the wiring loom is connected between the coil and its original connector, as a bridge. Unplug the coil, interpose the GRIPONE wiring loom and that’s it.

DATA RECORDING MODULE

GRIPONE LEONE is thought to be used on street bike and in sport racing. When everything must be optimized to improve the performance, you need an extra help to save time and to be more precise. For this reason GRIPONE LEONE encloses a serial data line that can be connected to the DAM, our data recording module. The module can record all the internal parameters that perform the functionalities of GRIPONE LEONE and you can analyze the data to optimize your traction control system. (Please note: DAM cannot record data from external sensors).

Diego is formed through 20 years of working on racetrack first as data engineer and after as chief engineer, alongside the best riders of 500cc and MotoGP classes.
