GRIPONE MICROLOG-01 is a CAN data logger designed for use in various fields (such as automotive, motorsport, laboratory analysis and monitoring, machinery monitoring, precision agriculture, industrial monitoring, process analysis, etc.) thanks to its data logging
capability via CAN bus (specifically designed for sectors such as automotive and motorsport) and its ability to support CAN OBDII and
J1939 protocols. The data logger is designed to acquire up to 16 signals

A micro and easy to use module with many additional extensions

GRIPONE MICROLOG-01 records datas over a SD card. Thnaks to the CAN bus it can be integrated with our CAN-BOARD modules. Using the CAN-BOARD modules, you can add features to record additional data such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, geolocation, load cells, opto-isolated inputs, and more.

The MICROLOG-01 data logger comes with the free GUBELLINI DataStudio suite, the software that enables full management of the device. In addition to standard functions (such as device configuration, data download, and management of external modules), DataStudio features an innovative AI Analyst (an analysis system that incorporates artificial intelligence). This multi-agent system integrates with cutting-edge models such as Google Gemini and OpenAI to automate anomaly detection, perform complex mathematical transformations (such as FFT or integrals), and generate professional technical reports in seconds.

CONFIGURATION

Configuration of Data Logger

The Logger module serves as the software’s central hub for defining acquisition logic and device behavior. Users can activate and fine-tune all 38 simultaneous inputs, including the integrated 10Hz GPS and 6-axis IMU. The interface offers granular control over sampling rates (up to 200Hz), industrial CAN Bus protocols (such as OBD II, J1939, and ISOBUS), and programmable Auto-Start triggers.

Managing your recordings is fast, flexible, and organized into intuitive datasets. The software supports standard USB-C downloads for quick access to recorded sessions directly from the device. For massive high-frequency recordings, the dedicated Micro SD function allows for “low-level raw reading”. By connecting the SD card directly to your PC, you can extract gigabytes of data in seconds, bypassing serial communication limits and ensuring maximum efficiency.

The Analysis suite provides high-performance visualization using dynamic TeeChart graphs designed for professional inspection. Navigate your recordings with millisecond precision using interactive cursors and real-time data grids that update instantly as you move. Beyond standard time-based charts, DataStudio includes a professional toolkit for deep analysis: Statistics (Min, Max, Avg, StdDev), XY Scatter plots for correlation studies, Histograms for frequency distribution, and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) for advanced vibration and spectrum analysis.

The Analysis suite provides high-performance visualization using dynamic graphs by which you can load 1 or 2 dataset and compare eachother. With the analisys software you can compare different laps, different sessions or different devices.

The Analysis suite provides the ability to save layouts with a specific choice of channels, upper and lower limits, colors, line width etc. to be always available. You can switch between different layouts to run different kind of analisys. You can display always only the most significant graphs, based on what you are looking for.

VIRTUAL CHANNELS

Virtual Channels

The Virtual Channels module allows you to create new telemetry channels (e.g., speed, spacing, power, filters) by mathematically processing the data recorded by the Datalogger. The heart of the system is a high-performance vector calculation engine (by scripting in C#). You write the “recipe” (the script) for a single instant in time, and the software will automatically execute it at maximum speed for all the hundreds of thousands of samples recorded in the dataset.

ADVANCED TOOLS

Advanced Diagnostic Toolkit

FFT (Fast Fourier Transform): This powerful spectrum analyzer decomposes complex signals into their frequency components.
XY Scatter Plot: This module allows you to plot one channel as a function of another to perform correlation studies.
Histogram Analysis: The histogram tool provides a statistical view of your data by showing the frequency distribution of a sensor’s values.

AI Analyst and automatic reports

Protection and Operating Environment

The Datalogger guarantees an IPX7 rating, allowing for use in harsh environments. The guaranteed operating temperature range is from -20°C to +85°C

Internal memory

The logged data is saved to an unformatted micro SD card (RAW format). The supported micro SD card capacities are 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB (larger capacities are supported but not utilised to their full capacity). The micro SD card can be removed and connected directly to a PC to retrieve the data (organised into datasets) using the dedicated function in GUBELLINI DataStudio.

Auto-Start Conditions

The data logger can manage the start of recording in two modes: “Always On” and “Auto-start Condition”. In “Always On” mode, the data logger generates a new dataset number and begins recording data from the active inputs immediately. The dataset closes when the device is switched off. In “Auto-Start Condition” mode, the data logger generates a new dataset number and begins recording data only after a condition has been met (linked to the value of one of the active inputs). The “Auto-Start” condition is programmable via software. The dataset is closed and recording stops when the device is switched off.

Artificial Intelligence

The GUBELLINI DataStudio data logger management software is equipped with an AI module called AI Analyst. AI Analyst is an innovative way of analysing the data recorded by the data logger. AI Analyst is not a simple AI “chatbot” to which you ask generic questions, but a fully-fledged multi-agent artificial intelligence system integrated into the software. It has been designed to assist you in analysing the acquired data, automating the search for anomalies, the creation of complex graphs and the drafting of professional reports.

Power supply

The device can be powered by a DC voltage of 7 to 24V.

USB-C connection

You can connect to the data logger via a USB-C connector located on the side of the enclosure and protected by a rubber gasket. The USB connection allows you to send and receive configuration data. To download the recorded data, you can remove the microSD card and connect it to your computer. Using the included software, you can download the datasets to your PC and export them in CSV format or analyze them.

Main Connector: (Automotive Grade)

To ensure maximum reliability in signal transmission and maintain the IPX7 waterproof certification, the physical interface of the
CAN bus is via a 4-pin AMP Super Seal 1.5 series connector (code 282106-1).

Internal memory

Logged data is saved to an unformatted micro SD card (RAW writing). Supported micro SD card formats are 16/32/64/128GB
(larger sizes are supported but cannot be used to their full capacity). The micro SD card can be removed and connected directly to a
PC to retrieve data (organized into datasets) using the dedicated GUBELLINI DataStudio function.

The MICROLOG-01 housing is made from PA12+35%GF nylon, a high-quality material with excellent mechanical properties that can withstand shocks and vibrations. It is ideal for use in harsh environments.
