The GRIPONE S3 comes in a plug & play kit that includes all the components needed for installation: ECU, plug & play wiring loom, led alarm (that can be placed near the dashboard), +/- buttons (to change the sensitive of traction control), bracket to fix the buttons on the handlebar, speed sensors, brackets for speed sensors (note that the brackets are not plug and play) , USB cable and user manual.
The GRIPONE S3 encloses 5 control functionalities: traction control (with auto-corrector), anti wheelie, launch assistance, quick shifter and pit limiter. (Note: launch assistance is not a rev limiter like other launch controls, our launch control strategy reduces power when there is spinning o the rear tyre or wheelie during the starting phase). Other components such as the IMU inertial platform and the DAM datalogger are optional (and can be purchased separately).
Thanks to our propretary technology 3D-INTELLIGENCE and the inertial platform IMU, GRIPONE S3 can understand the lean angle of the bike and the dynamic condition of the bike, applying instantly the best amount of control. Thanks to the new SELF CORRECTOR algorith, GRIPONE S3 is even more powerful and easy. The user simply sets the desired “average” level of traction control and GRIPONE increases sensitive in critical situations or decrease the sensitive to optimize the acceleration out of the corners. GRIPONE S3 is designed to be used in motorcycle sports and motorcycle racing, where it is necessary the perfection of performance of each component. For this reason GRIPONE S3 has a serial data channel to be connected to our proprietary datalogger (DAM). DAM module can record all the internal values of the control strategies (allowing you to improve the performance in less time). Please note that DAM cannot be connected to external sensors.
The new brackets, included into the kit, are thought to make the speed sensor installation even more easy then before. The brackets are not plug & play but allow the installation on the majority of motorcycles. By the brackets, the speed sensors can be placed in front of the brake disk bolts and measure the speed of both wheels. The speed is measured by calculating the time distance between each pulses detected by the sensors. Normally the street motorcycles have between 4 and 6 bolts each wheels. To have a better speed signal you can use a pulse rings with more tooth. For pulse rings we suggest 12 pulses each wheels.
The wiring loom included into the kit is completely plug & play. It does not need any kind of modification on the original harness because it’s made with the original connectors. In the most of the applications, the wiring loom is connected to the coils, making a bridge between the coil and the original connector. If you decide to change the bike, you can uninstall your GRIPONE and install it to another bike. All you need is replace the wiring loom with the proper one for your new motorcycle.
GRIPONE S3 works well even without being connected to the inertial platform IMU because GRIPONE S3 can simulate the wheel load used by the 3D-INTELLIGENCE strategy. However, if you want the complete control and the maximum performance, we recommend you to include the inertial platform (IMU) in your system. With GRIPONE S3 (from firmware version 40), installation and adjustment of the IMU are very simple, thanks to the wizard procedure included with the WINSOFT software.
GRIPONE S3 includes the quick shifter’s function. By adding the optional sensor (GSENSOR), it can work as quick shifter and let you to up-shift the gear without close the gas or use the clutch. The function of quick shifter is self adaptive according to the engine RPM: instead of cut the engine power for a certain time period, GRIPONE S3 counts the firing cycles. In this way the time of interruption of power changes automatically by the engine revolutions. As much higher are the engine revolutions and much quicker the up shift will be.

What includes the kit
The kit includes everything you need for installation on the bike. The inertial platform IMU and the Datalogger DAM are not included in the kit but are available as optional accessories.
How it works
- 3D-INTELLIGENCE. Our proprietary technology that calculates the ideal spinning level in every conditions. Every 0.005 seconds, the unit elaborate the data and it updates real-time the sensitive of traction control.
- TRACTION CONTROL. The most important function of GRIPONE S3 is the control of traction. By the speed sensors the system check the spinning of rear tyre and reduce the power when it is too much (or dangerous). The traction control function is based on 3D-INTELLIGENCE algorithm. The user can adjust the control strategy in many different way because the system is very flexible, but also start from a solid base with our base map available online.
- ANTI WHEELIE. The anti wheelie function can calculate the level of wheelie. User select a certain sensitive and GRIPONE decide if reduce the power or do not reduce the power. GRIPONE S3 allows adjustment of the anti wheelie separately from the traction control. In addition, the new “Pulse Wave” wheelie control ensures fast intervention and a gradual rapprochement of the wheel asphalt. With GRIPON S3 you will not suffer anymore about the typical “on/off” feeling of other systems.
- LAUNCH CONTROL. Using a sophisticated algorithm, GRIPONE S3 help the starting procedure. No button for activation: whenever the bike is left idle for more than 5 sec the launch control is automatically activated. During the launch, GRIPONE S3 keeps under control the wheelie and the spinning of rear tyre. The function switch off automatically over a certain speed (programmable by software).
- QUICK SHIFTER. GRIPONE S3 includes a function to work as quick shifter. By adding the gear shift sensor (GSensor) you can up-shift the gear without close the throttle or use the clutch. Our quick shifter strategy works counting the firing so it is auto adaptive with the engine revolutions.
- PIT LIMITER. by the map you can fix the speed limit, then by the remote buttons you can enable or disable the limiter. GRIPONE S3 limits the speed in pit lane.
- AUTO CORRECTION. (included from firmware version 0037) GRIPONE S3 includes a self correction functionality to change in real time the map sent by the user. When the average sensitive selected by the user does not suited to his riding style, the system will be able to correct itrself. Relatively in a short time frame (equivalent to a 3-4 laps of circuit, more less 15km) GRIPONE S3 calculates the ideal sensitive, depending on how the rider is using the bike and optimizes it. At each stop the system will take note of the calibration made by the self correction.
- MAPS AVAILABLE ONLINE. A database with maps for each bike is available online. It is available a specific map for every bikes we supply the plug & play kit, Just download the map and program the unit GRIPONE ‘s free, quick and easy.
